| For
the PA projection, the sternum is rotated to isolate the involved scapula so it is set
away from the chest.
|
Summary: A complete radiographic evaluation of the scapula requires at least 3 views. With practice and careful planning, quality radiographs can be made. You will be surprised how complex lesions of the scapula (such as fractures or tumors) are easily demonstrated by these techniques. This improves diagnostic accuracy and avoids confusion and saves time in the long run. Give it a try! |

Rules for Pets Imported into the United Kingdom from the US and Canada On November 20, 2002, the United Kingdom announced the inclusion of USA and
Canada into the list of countries from which pet dogs and cats may be imported without a
6-month quarantine. The importation scheme will officially go into effect December 11,
2002 - but it is expected that US pets will not be qualified for this inclusion
immediately. The UK will still maintain a quarantine system: should someone take their pet
to the UK and not have completed the requirements, they will still have the option of
having their pet quarantined in the UK. US pets included in this program must be properly
vaccinated against rabies and be microchip-identified. At least 30 days following rabies
inoculation, a rabies titer will need to be performed at an approved laboratory (for
nonmilitary US pet owners, this will be the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Kansas
State University) and be found to be protective. In addition, 48 hours before the
microchip-identified animal is checked in to travel it must be treated, by a veterinarian,
with specifically listed products for ticks and tapeworms and the microchip number must be
verified. The treatment and certification of this treatment may be done by any
licensed veterinarian. Detailed information can be found on the British Embassy website: http://www.britainusa.com/pets/ |
