Oncology Trials Available at SouthPaws Dr. Sarah Sheafor, DACVIM (Oncology) SouthPaws Oncology is proud to be a founding member of the Animal Cancer Institute. We currently have three trials available at SouthPaws that are actively recruiting patients. New trials open frequently, so please call SouthPaws Oncology at 703-451-4125 for further information. 1) Dogs with first relapse of lymphoma after 4 or more months of remission (treated with any combination chemotherapy protocol) are eligible for a trial of lomustine (CCNU) chemotherapy plus an antiangiogenic agent. This funded trial reimburses clients for the costs of the chemotherapy and diagnostics/monitoring. 2) Dogs with splenic hemangiosarcoma treated with splenectomy and with no evidence of measurable metastases are eligible for a single agent trial of an anti-angiogenic agent. This funded trial also reimburses clients for the costs of diagnostics, imaging, and examinations. 3) Anti-angiogenic therapy for cats with measurable tumors for whom traditional therapy is not successful is now available. Cats have to be expected to live at least 2 months, and cannot be receiving any other cancer therapies. The owners must be able to give subcutaneous injections at home daily. This study provides the drug itself at no cost, but does not cover exam fees, monitoring or testing. |
